Up to/and Including The Limits
Up to/and Including The Limits, Jin-me Yoons The Dreaming Collective Knows No History on Screen
Jin-me Yoons The Dreaming Collective Knows No History is invited to Up to/and Including Limits at Argos Center for Art & Media, sited in Belgium. A film program curated by Katerina Gregos as a part of Argos project Open Archive #1, this exhibition focuses on performative mapping, which is not the case of mapping in the geographical sense, but one considering the body as the central protagonist. Seventeen works are screened in this exhibition, those which, by locating the corporeal presence in relation to space, concern the body that not only marks a given space but also tests its limitations within that space. Jin-me Yoons work shows the submissive yet subversive shift of relationship between a vertical city and horizontally tipped-down body through the performance of the artist crawling from the U.S. Embassy to the Japanese Embassy of Seoul. Argos is a media art center founded in 1989, Brussel, and performs various activities such as exhibitions, screenings, publishing and preservations of media art works.
