The first pilot program of IAS Archive features "Gallery + Diary," which contains all the image works that artist Kim Su-beom has collected from a variety gallery and Museum for 10 years. Visitors can peruse the archived image documentaries freely in this display.
Artist Kim Su-beom, who was born in Jeju Island and became a high school teacher in Gangwon Province, has made films of various exhibitions from 1995 to 2005. These archives are well to be called a kind of "Gallery Diary" of an individuals own editing as well as an objective record on exhibitions for the last 11 years. The personal diary contains various pictures of galleries of Insa-dong, Chuncheon, and Jeju including exhibitions, lectures, visitors and the landscapes around the architectures. During the times, we can see the ever-changing exhibits and technology from 8m home video to 6m digital camcorder. The return of personal collections into the exhibitions would help to establish a new definition for the word "archive" and to reconsider the relationship between artists and visitors.
In addition, many officials at the related organizations participated in a forum presided by Kim Eun-young (a professor at Dept. of Art Administration of Hongik University) to discuss the concept of Image Archive and to come up with some methodologies.
